Douglas Healey Photographer
Graduated with a B.F.A. from Northern Michigan University, where he focused on street photography. He moved to New York City in 1974 and served as a fashion photographer assistant to Howell Conant, Mike Reinhardt, Bill King, and Helmut Newtown. At this time he also studied at the International Center of Photography, and also worked for Karsh of Ottawa the portrait photographer, traveling with him as his assistant to Rome photographing Pope John Paul II, Montreal for Rudolf Nureyev, and The White House President Gerald Ford. After a two-year relocation to Paris, he returned to New York and worked for Vogue, The Associated Press, The New York Times, New York Post, Getty, Bloomberg News, New Haven Register, Hartford Courant, The News-Times,The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post.
Additionally, he served as a conflict photographer with extensive coverage at Sandy Hook, Newtown, Connecticut, and the Boston Marathon bombing aftermath.
Douglas Healey is available for assignments, and commissioned environmental portraits on location or at his daylight studio in the American Fabrics Building 1069 Connecticut Ave. in Bridgeport Connecticut
