I am a gestural expressionist painter known for my outsider style that emphasizes empAthy: the ancient bond between horse and humans. The Emotions and lives of Human figures dominate my canvas as well in strong defined lines and use of intense color. I have exhibited work in the North East USA, in Venice and Cangne sur Mer, France; My paintings are in private collections.
I grew up in a small town in the Catskill mountains on the banks of the Hudson River, so at an early age I strongly connected to the contours of the land and the rhythms of nature. As a child I spent summers on my grandmother’s farm in Southwestern Massachusetts where horses, especially, captured my young imagination, imbedding in my psyche images of majestic size and graceful beauty.
These early images, coupled with a love of music and dance nurtured by my father, developed subconsciously over the years, giving rise to colorful, mysterious paintings of human figures and animals intertwined in the dance of life.
More recently my work has evolved and been strengthened by travels to Europe where the ancient architecture, art history, and pre-history of other cultures inspire new forms and colors in my figurative paintings, helping me to discover unexplored parts of myself.I grew up in a small town in the Catskill mountains on the banks of the Hudson River, so at an early age I strongly connected to the contours of the land and the rhythms of nature.
