The Year Indoors
The year 2020 brought out the best - and worst - in artists around the world. Some found staying inside to be the perfect time to just relax and create, while others found themselves in a creative desert. Whatever the case may be for you, whether you’ve exhausted all your ideas or the creative slump is driving you mad, we may have just the remedy you’ve been looking for. For those feeling stumped and who are dealing with a creative block, try collaborating with an artist you find unique, interesting, will bring you out of your comfort zone, and who is open to experimenting on a collaborative project online.
Two Heads Are Better Than One
If you’ve taken on art as a lone wolf in the past, maybe it’s high time to try something new. Collaboration between artists allows for the display of each artists’ unique talents and skills while still creating something entirely new to the art scene. Furthermore, the art created will receive attention from fans of both artists, possibly inspiring a couple new fans for each artist involved. Just like in the business world, collaborating with new people presents the opportunity to make new connections and network with new people. Generally speaking, the more people you know and the more connections you have, the better! Each connection you make presents a new opportunity and will only amplify your presence in the art world. The original goal of this collaboration will not be lost in all of the other benefits, we promise. A new collaboration will not only open an artist up for new ideas for the one or several pieces included in the collaboration but may present inspiration for the artist to create on their own. Say goodbye to that creative slump for good!
You Won’t Be the First
Still hesitant to try something new? Maybe you don’t want to be the artist to pave the way? No worries! You can rest assured that since the pandemic, other artists have taken to collaboration, especially online collaboration, to find inspiration and new audiences. According to ARTnews, “Collective endeavors have taken on increasing currency in recent years, with platforms such as the multicity Condo gallery-share program helping to spur business among small and mid-tier operations and museums working together. But the future has more in store—and likely of a nature we haven’t seen before.” Artists have taken the jump to collaboration in the past, so no need to be worried about trail-blazing. Give collaboration a try! 2021 is the year of taking creative risks and for artists in a creative slump, this may be your ticket to inspiration!
